Holiday E-Shopping Safety Tips
Government
statistics indicate that Internet crime
rates are rising fast. There
are several ways that you can protect
yourself and your family. This holiday
season, if you're ordering gifts online, be
sure to take a few basic precautions:
1)Order from reputable website vendors.
Thousands of 'spoofed' websites are open
lurring people to enter their personal
information such as social security numbers,
personal passwords, credit card information
and other private information that can be
used to steal your identity. 2)Before
entering credit card information on a
website, be sure the 'padlock' graphic
appears on your browser which indicates that
the website is secure from prying eyes.
3)Never open e-mail messages from people
that you don't know. Many messages contain
malicious programs that can be used to steal
data from your computer. 4) Educate your
family and friends about these basic steps
to follow - especially the elderly that may
be targeted by e-criminals. If you don't
have virus protection, be sure to get it and
keep it up to date. Computer Sights is happy
to offer Avast anti-virus free of charge to
home users.

Surveillance Technology

Leaving your home unattended this holiday
season?
If
you've watched the news recently, you
already know that property-related crimes
are also on the rise such as burglaries,
robberies and theft. Especially if you leave
your property unattended this holiday
season, the latest surveillance system
technology can help protect your home or
business and it's more affordable than you
may think. Many surveillance systems are now
self-installable and can be purchased at
prices far under your insurance
deductible. All of the latest surveillance
systems allow you to watch the cameras over
the Internet and some even call your cell
phone if they 'see' motion when
there shouldn't be anyone home. Alarm
systems are an excellent way to alert
the police that there's an intrusion, but if
the perpetrator is gone by the time they
arrive, they usually have no evidence to
help with the capture of the crook. With gas
prices on the rise, employees may be more
apt to steal from their employers.
Surveillance systems are a great deterent to
help prevent and capture foes. Visit our
retail showroom for
a demonstration or take a look at our other
surveillance options at our
webstore.
